POSITION: PIO Newspaper Production Assistant

LOCATION: Building One (1), Concho, OK

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The PIO/ Newspaper Production Assistant is under the direct supervision of the PIO Coordinator and is responsible for assisting in the layout, design, and downloading of the newspaper as well as reporting news and feature stories of interest to tribal members, covering elections, conferences, and events for tribal newspaper. Interviews of tribal elders and other tribal members for culture and heritage feature stories, taking photographs of tribal members at events for stories covered, and working the photos in Photoshop for quality newspaper printing. The PIO/Newspaper Assistant also sells and designs advertisements, and meets deadlines for timely publication.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of one to two years of college with credit hours in the field of journalism/communications/media graphics or equivalent of experience in all facets of newspaper production and the computer software involved.
The candidate must also be at ease with the public, and conduct themselves in a friendly and professional manner.
Must have current Oklahoma Driver’s License.
Must be familiar with or willing to learn about the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes and all Tribal Programs.
Must abide by all tribal policies and procedures.
Cheyenne-Arapaho preference.
